This morning (October 5th) we hiked to Moxie Falls on a wonderful, well-maintained path with real wooden stairways and decks for viewing the top of the falls. We then ventured beyond the viewing area and found a place further on where we could climb steeply down the hillside clinging to roots, scramble over rocks along the river back to the falls, and then search for finger and toeholds while edging along a wall of rock to get closer. The falls were even more spectacular viewing them from the pool at the base of the falls:) The climb back up was tackled with frequent stops to catch my breath!

On the way back out from viewing the falls. |
Along Scenic Hwy 201 we stopped at the historic marker where Colonel Benedict Arnold left the Kennebuc River in October of 1775 and marched with his soldiers toward Quebec.
Next we found the Wire Suspension Bridge built in 1865 that spans the Carrabassett River in New Portland.

From there we drove to Mt Blue State Park which is a beautiful state park on Webb Lake. We spent the night in the campground there.
