Thursday (26th) we drove north up Hwy 10, the scenic Connecticut River Byway, in New Hampshire. Winding through hills and valleys covered with trees whose autumn colors are beginning to show, we passed by small farm markets with their produce and colorful fall displays, white steepled churches, and country inns. Driving through the town of Hanover, we passed Dartmouth College.
We happened upon the Haverhill-Bath Covered Bridge . . .
. . . Before heading back into Vermont for a stop at Kettle Pond . . .
. . . And a drive up a one-lane dirt road and short hike to Owl's Head for a beautiful scenic view.

We stopped early for the evening at New Discovery State Park. We had a nice open, grassy campsite and got to enjoy some sun before nightfall.
Most of the campgrounds have been heavily wooded, but this one had some nice open spots. |
