We enjoyed our visit to the Ark in Williamstown, Kentucky today (May 14). It’s an impressive sight! The engineering and size of the Ark is truly amazing! Built according to the dimensions given in the Bible, this life-sized Ark is 510 feet long, 85 feet wide and 51 feet high — large enough to contain about 450 semi-truck trailers!
Inside there are ramps and three decks with exhibits and displays depicting what Noah and his family probably experienced before, during and after the flood; as well as possible explanations for the housing and care of all those animals.
To get the most out of the Ark Encounter it’s necessary to take the time to read the information explaining each exhibit. There are some videos and audio recordings, but most of the information is printed. We found it very helpful to arrive early on a weekday to get ahead of the crowds. As the day wore on we had to spend some time waiting to get close enough to see what was written.
While there, be sure and treat yourself to lunch or dinner at Emzara’s Buffet. We thought the food was exceptionally good.
Before leaving for the day, we also attended a thought-provoking presentation by Ken Hamm in the Answer Center Theater entitled “Communicating the Christian Message in a Secularized Culture.”
We spent about seven hours at the Ark Encounter (the same amount of time we spent yesterday at the Creation Museum:) I highly recommend visiting them both if you get the chance. (See yesterday’s post on the Creation Museum.)
